ABOUT

Ashley Weckesser is a multidisciplinary artist, experimenter and maker based in Edmonton, Alberta.

Guided by curiosity, she explores ideas through sound, technology, objects, storytelling and hands-on experimentation. Her projects move between composition, sound design, electronics, visual art, fabrication and whatever unfamiliar medium might help bring an idea to life.

Rather than working within a single discipline, Ashley treats creativity as a process of investigation. She follows questions, builds prototypes, combines unlikely materials and learns by making. Some experiments become finished artworks. Others remain strange little discoveries, useful failures or starting points for something new.

Across her work is a desire to make the world feel more imaginative, playful and alive. Her primary goal is to create moments that invite people to look closer, look and listen differently, challenge perspeective and rediscover a sense of wonder with lasting impact.

Her previous work includes music for theatre, film and video games; multidisciplinary performances; animated scores; sound installations; visual projects; and experimental compositions. Her work has received recognition for video-game audio design and has appeared in theatre productions, festivals and collaborative artistic projects.
